More Than Just a Name
Let’s be honest—most of us jot down the same familiar name when asked for a “beneficiary,” barely giving it a second thought. But here’s the thing: being named a beneficiary isn’t just a formality—it comes with real responsibilities. From life insurance policies and retirement accounts to trusts and bank assets, each comes with its own rules and potential pitfalls. It’s so important to review your choices regularly and ensure your beneficiary is ready—not just on paper, but in practice. Join us for an insightful session that will help you feel confident in your decisions—and help your beneficiary feel ready for the road ahead. Better yet, bring them with you.
FIRST CLASS PILOT, JON OLNY | NOVEMBER 19, 2025
First Class Ship Pilot
Ever wonder who’s at the helm when massive ships cruise through the Great Lakes? Join us for a fascinating presentation with Jon, a federally registered ship pilot licensed to navigate foreign-flagged vessels across the Great Lakes and their rivers. A proud graduate of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City, Jon holds a USCG Master’s license for Great Lakes vessels of unlimited tonnage, as well as a First Class Pilot license—qualifying him to captain or pilot any vessel, regardless of size. Jon will share what a Ship Pilot really does, how pilots guide enormous vessels safely through complex waterways, and the unique lifestyle and responsibilities of a Great Lakes pilot. Set sail with us—no life preserver required!
