Tough Love
For some parents, letting their adult children move back in also means moving back their plans to retire. According to Pew Research, as of the beginning of 2015, 26% of Millennials lived with their parents. An article in USA Today [http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2015/10/31/tough-love-adult-kids-parents-retirement/74896052/]reveals that the primary driver that’s putting kids back in Mom/Dad’s spare bedroom is student loans.
Times have changed and tough love seems to be one answer to holding Millennials accountable in present times and the future. Establishing financial boundaries will inevitably create a ripple effect for future decisions about IRAs, life insurance and estate planning.
